PICTURES AROUND TOWN

HERE’S AN ACCUMULATION OF PICTURES AROUND TOWN, MANY FROM THE TOWN SQUARE, AND A FEW FROM THE VARIOUS FORMER BLOGS:

DOLLS ON THE DASH OF A TAXI DRIVER

                                                    MAKING SUGAR CANE JUICE

                                                                THE BEAUTICIAN

                                                                OVERLOADED?

                                                            RESTOCKING THE ATM

THIS DOG KNEW THE ROUTINE.  THE TAILGATE WAS OPENED FOR HIM, AND HE HOPPED RIGHT IN.

IN CASE YOU THOUGHT YOUR HAIR WAS LONG………

A LOCAL FARMER NAMED “BELNAVE.”  I MET HIM IN TOWN A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, AND HE REMEMBERED BOTH MY NAME AND ALSO ROSIE’S NAME.

                                                                SUGAR CANE JUICE.

AN INDIGENOUS FAMILY WITH TYPICAL LONG, BLACK HAIR

AT THE SUNDAY MARKET A MAN WAS ROASTING GUINEA PIGS.  CALLED “CUI” IN THE NATIVE LANGUAGE, THEY HAVE BEEN A POPULAR “DISH” FOR CENTURIES.  I DID NOT HAVE THE GUTS TO TRY IT….

SOME FANCY NEEDLE WORK ON A TREE IN THE PARK.

THE TECHNILOGICO INSTITUT:  WE WENT TO 3 CONCERTS HERE.

YOU CAN PROBABLY TELL WHAT KIND OF SEEDS THESE ARE

EGG DELIVERY.  THEY COST ABOUT $1.50/DOZEN HERE
AND THERE IS NOT SHORTAGE OF THEM.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR COMMENT ON THIS ONE?

THE CALICO QUEEN.  OUR LANDLORDS KITTY.  A GOOD COMPANION

THESE EPIPHYTES GROW RIGHT ON THE POWER LINES HERE.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST MANGO I’VE EVER SEEN!

A TRUCK FULL OF CORN STALKS HEADED TO THE DAIRY TO FEED THE COWS.

WHICH IS THE HEAD AND WHICH IS THE TAIL?

EVERY MORNING I GO UP ON THE ROOF TO HANG OUT FOR AN HOUR OR SO.  HERE’S THE VIEW I’LL MISS ONCE WE LEAVE.  YES, THAT IS CERRO MANDANGO WHICH I WROTE ABOUT SOON AFTER WE GOT HERE.

THESE 2 INCH BEETLES ARE COMMON.  WE’RE TOLD THAT AT THIS TIME OF YEAR THEY DIE OFF EN MASS, AND SO THERE ARE PLENTY OF DEAD AND DYING ONES AROUND.  WE WATCHED ONE BUZZ AROUND FOR A BIT AND THEN DIVE BOMB HEAD FIRST INTO THE CONCRETE CURB, AND FALL BACKWARDS ONTO HIS BACK, LIKE THE ONE IN THIS PICTURE.  IF YOU FIND ONE ALIVE AND ON HIS BACK, IF YOU FLIP HIM OVER TO HIS UPRIGHT POSITION, HE WILL FLIP HIMSELF OVER ONTO HIS BACK, AS. IF TO IMPLY HE WANTS TO BE LEFT TO DIE
